AGA Nationals 2022

Overview

The 2022 Australian National Championships will be held in the Sports Lounge at the Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club (117 Ryedale Rd, West Ryde, NSW, 2114) on the weekend of December 3rd & 4th 2022 commencing at 10:00am.

Event format

The main tournament will consist of four divisions.

The Open division is for strong dan players; there will be six games over two days. All games are even. This division is recommended for 5 dan players and above. (Entry fee $60, Concession $40)
The Dan Handicap division is recommended for players 2 kyu to 5 dan, there will be six handicap games over two days. (Entry fee $60, Concession $40)
The Kyu Handicap division is limited to kyu players, there will be six handicap games over two days. (Entry fee $60, Concession $40)

Please note: In handicap divisions the maximum handicap is 9 stones.  The concession rate applies to students and inter-state players.

In addition to the main tournament there will be:

The Annual General Meeting of the AGA at midday Saturday 3rd December.
A Lightning Tournament will be held on Saturday evening starting around 6:00pm.

Tournament details

For the Open, Dan and Kyu tournaments, each player has 30 minutes main time, plus 3 x 30 seconds byo-yomi.  Games that last longer than 90 minutes will be adjudicated by An Younggil 8P.

The cash prize pool will be determined closer to the tournament but is expect to be around $1500 (depending on entries and sponsorship).  Also, the results from the tournament will be used to select the Australian representatives at international events including the World Amateur Go Championships and World Pair Go Championships.

How to enter

Click on the ‘Click here to register’ button below and then Pay using Bank Transfer (banking details will be sent after your registration has been processed.

Your entry will be processed and an email will be sent to you with details of how to pay.  Please note: Payments will be processed through the Sydney Go Club bank account and only entries with a payments will be accepted.  If you do not recieve an email within 24 hours of registration, please click here and email your details.

Tournament entry close at 5:00pm (Sydney time) on Friday 2nd December.  The draw will be made once registrations close so late entrants may not be able to join the event.

Privacy: Your address, phone number and email address will only be used for communications from Tournament organisers about events and other important news.

No personal information is kept on this website.  We will share the information with the Australian Go Association if you have agreed to join the AGA. Beyond that, personal information is not shared, sold or used for any other purposes.

Rules

The event will comply with the Australian Go Association rules

Players and specatators will comply with the IGF Code of Ethics

All participants must comply with the 2022 AGA Nationals rules and the Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club by-laws

It is important to note the Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club is a licenced venue for gambling and the sale of alcohol. People under 18 attending the Nationals must be under parental supervision and not enter the gambling, smoking or bar areas of the club.

The adult entry fee is $60 with a concession entry fee of $40 for students and people travelling from outside of NSW.  The entry fee for the Emerging Player tournament is $30.  Note: a late payment fee of $20 will apply to people paying on the day.
