Cecil Kuo was a member of the Brisbane Go Club from at least 1990, a life member of the Queensland Go Society, an avid player and passionate teacher of go. He was a common sight at the Brisbane Go Club, and always a pleasure to talk to and play with, often with his close friend Sam Nakagawa.
Unfortunately, Cecil’s health began to decline, and earlier this year he suffered a short but serious illness. As a result, he returned to Taiwan to be with his family while receiving care. He passed away peacefully at around 4am local time on the 10th of May.
In an attempt to honour Cecil’s memory, we will be holding an annual tournament. In keeping with Cecil’s passion for teaching, the prizes will include a fully-paid lesson with An Younggil 8P of the Sydney Go Club. This will be available to the winner of each division.
We invite all players in the area on the day to participate, and to share their stories of Cecil.
